OUR HISTORY

“Canaan Is A Great Place To Be”

Canaan became a visible reality in October 1993 in the home of Apostle Marion and Prophetess Renora Lott in Dover, Delaware. Being led by the Holy Spirit and accompanied by the late Brother Glenwood Jackson, Mother Alice Marshall, Minister Sophronia Strand, and Minister Antonia Webb; Apostle Lott & Prophetess Lott joined together in covenant agreement organizing and establishing the Mission and the Vision that had been imparted to Apostle in years past.

The Lord added to the church immediately and our first service was held at Reese Memorial Funeral Home in Dover, Delaware the third Sunday in October of 1993. We allowed the “light of glory” to shine in the “dark places” while conducting our Worship Services at Reese Memorial Funeral Home and the Lord honored our labor. On the first Sunday in May of 1994 we held our first Worship Celebration at what we now call “Old Canaan”; (987 Bay Road, Milford, Delaware). The Lord gave us that land and property which has an appraised value of over $340,000 to us for less than $125,000.

In May of 2003 we relocated to our present home, 283 School Street, Houston, Delaware. The Lord is constantly showing Himself strong in the midst of Canaan each and every day. The building we are now in has an appraised value of $1,250,000. We have been given this building for $200.000.

Souls are being saved and baptized, and souls are being sent to Canaan and restored to the fellowship and Body of Christ. Christian Education is a vital and growing ministry of Canaan. Individuals are learning and walking in their spiritual gifts. The calling of God’s people into the five-fold ministry are being manifested here at Canaan.

In April of 2008, moving by the Spirit of the Lord, Apostle and Prophetess Lott transferred the mantle of the Pastorate to Evangelist Kamillah Lewis and she was installed as the Pastor of Canaan Full Gospel Christian Church. The members of Canaan and many pastors and ministers in the state embraced this move and celebrated Pastor Lewis’ first anniversary in April of 2009.

In June 2014, following another divine move of the Lord, the mantle of the Pastorate was transferred again to Minister Monique Hampton who was officially installed on November 1, 2014.
